The dog breed Borzoi is classified as sighthounds, and has been used as a gun dog. Sighthounds are able to capture fast moving and agile prey (i.e. deer and hare).

Borzoi is a select few of the least intelligent dog breeds. Mental training is regularly less crucial in intelligent dog breeds.

Classification of Borzoi: Borzoi is included in the FCI record. The dog breed is recognized in the section «Long-haired or fringed Sighthounds» (10.1) in the classification «Sighthounds». FCI number for borzoi is 193 and was added to the record 2006-10-25. American Kennel Club classifies the dog breed as «Hounds». United Kennel Club approves the dog breed as «Sighthound & Pariah Dogs» in their record. Canadian Kennel Club classifies the dog breed as «Hounds».

Borzoi State of health: Unfortunately, a few may attain severe health vexations. This dog breed tend to bloat (also known as stomach torsion and twisted stomach). The sickness can be profoundly wearisome to handle. Dogs may survive one bloating episode, but they will eventually die from the sickness.
