Painful health challanges in the Portuguese Water Dog: Sadly, some of the dogs may experience fatal health challanges. Portuguese Water Dog is a dog breed which is experiencing hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia disorder is the single most common cause of arthritis of the hips. This the breed are often experiencing a disorder called Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA).
