World Canine Organisation identification for samoyed is 212 and was added to the register 1997-07-22. American Kennel Club categorizes the breed as «Working Dogs». United Kennel Club involves the breed as «Northern Breed» in their register. Canadian Kennel Club categorizes the breed as «Working dogs».

Health issues in the Samoyed: Sadly, some may obtain tough health issues. Samoyed is a breed which is suffering from hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia in canines can eventually crippling lameness and painful arthritis of the joints. This the breed are often suffering from a disorder called Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). This disorder may cause blindness. PRA is a group of genetic diseases seen in certain breeds. The dog breeds are affected by skin troubles. They are prone to glaucoma. Subsidary health issues have also been recorded (including retinal detachment).

The dog breeds shape: Dogs gets as tall as 21 to 24 inches tall. Bitches get as tall as 19 to 22 inches tall. Dogs can weigh 44 to 64 pounds. Bitches is 37 to 55 pounds. The fur is of medium length. Samoyed looks somewhat approximative the shape of a wolf.
